A Year Down Yonder

A Year Down Yonder
by Richard Peck

It is 1937, and just like everyone else, Mary Alice's family is suffering through the Depression.  To help make ends meet, Mary Alice is sent from her home in Chicago to live in a small town with her Grandma Dowdel.  Grandma Dowdel is a straight talking, shotgun totting, all business kind of lady.  Can Mary Alice survive living with  her grandma in these new to her rural surroundings?
