In this amazing book, 4th grader Cassie Logan shares how her  wonderful family deals with racism and tries to maintain ownership of their 400 acre cotton farm in 1933 Mississippi.  

This is a challenging book to read.  The reading level is difficult but the content is even more difficult.  Students will need to be prepared to read about unfair treatment of African-Americans by white southerners in the Jim Crow era.
